Today’s event is the 8th edition in the series, and it is themed: Fine Art Interrogating Baba Ani Bass Saxophonist. Among the artists featuring, according to Ajayi, are: Duke Asidere, Tunde Soyinka, Segun Adejumo, Angela Isiuwe, Lekan Onabanjo, Jerry Nnubia, Emmanuel Isiuwe, Omozuapo Angela and Emmanuel Irokanulo, Aladegbogbe, and Jerry Nnubia. The ace photographer, Don Barber will also be on ground to record the moment.

Baba Ani, as he is fondly called, is the famous friend and professional sideman of the Afrobeat creator, Fela Anikulapo Kuti. He was leader of the band for 39 years, right from its formative stage as Koola Lobitos in 1959 all through its transformation to Afrika 70 and later Egypt 80. After Fela died passed on in 1997, he continued to lead the band for another 19 years mentoring Fela’s son, Seun Kuti, through his now-famous career.

“It is the essence of the man we intend to capture, while interrogating his person and life so far, said Ajayi, reminding that the Series ad in the past featured such other eminent personalities as: the Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka, former head of state, General Yakubu Gowon, the Oba of Benin, the eminent legal practitioners, chief Mrs Folake Solanke, among others.

Curated by the art producer and manager, Eki Eboigbe, the event will also have in attendance family and friends of the celebrant, as well as other invited guests and patrons of Didi Museum.

Founder of the Didi Museum, the businessman, art collector and environmental evangelist, Chief Newton Jibunoh, who is the chief host, has thrown his full weight behind the event, providing entertainment and refreshments, according to Ajayi, disclosing that Jibunoh has also invited some eminent personalities.

The event will also be broadcast by virtually by Zoom and Live Facebook.

The works from the session will go up in exhibition in the course of the celebration of Baba Ani, stated Ajayi.
